TIMI DAKOLO SET FOR NAIROBI DISABILITY CONCERT

It has now been confirmed that one of Africa’s finest R&B artiste and the winner of the first West Africa Idol is set to perform for the first time in Nairobi, Kenya at a concert put together by Opa Williams Production.

The tender hearted humanitarian will be the star artiste at the concert dubbed The Evening scheduled for Safari Park Hotel on the 17th of November.

According to Efe Omorogbe, CEO of Now Muzik , the concert is a fund raiser for people living with disability and it will also feature other artistes from Kenya as well as Nigerian ace comedian, Ali Baba.

Timi’s choice as a star artiste is not far-fetched; his rich choice of words, lyrical depth and soulful vocals, is always an experience for listeners. His Great Nation single off the Beautiful Noise album is a listening pleasure any time with its timely message and words of encouragement.

Timi has been involved in a number of charity works. He performed pro-bono at Valentine At Christmas, a charity concert organized by British Council in 2008 for the benefit of Lagos State schools and also the Inspired Africa Benefit Concert in 2009.

It would be recalled that Timi teamed up with eight other Nigerian artistes to produce a sound track for the Inspire Africa Foundation.

He has five videos to his credit which includes I Love U (2010), There’s a cry (2011), Let It Shine (2011), So Beautiful (2011) and Love Letter (2012) directed by Clarence Peters.

Other artistes expected at the concert include Chris Bitok, Suzzana Owiyo, Daddy Owen and Nairobi Choir.

Still on Timi Dakolo @ Headies 2012

So what was great about the Headies this year? M.I and Omawumi were great. M.I delivered as was expected, and Omawumi was comfortable in her skin and it all looked effortless. This is a major improvement from last year. The performances were generally good, but the vocalists made my day.  Timi Dakolo showed why he is reputed as one of the nations’ top vocalist in what was my performance of the night.

TIMI DAKOLO REKINDLES HOPE WITH ‘GREAT NATION’; WOWS AUDIENCE AT HEADIES

The Headies 2012 might have come and gone like a flash but the wonderful memories linger on. One unforgettable moment surely was the performance of the patriotic single Great Nation  by the ever shining  Timi Dakolo whose beautiful wife was also present to experience firsthand his soulful vocals and lyrical depth .
It felt like a performance in heaven transmitted via big screen to earth. Everyone present clearly understood the message, as the singer churned out each line of the hope-filled song, and as usual, Great Nation once more, like it did at the Future Awards a couple of months ago, steered believe and unwavering faith in a Country whose image has been dented by major heart-breaking events.

The soulful singer is currently preparing for ‘The Evening’, a fund raising concert for people living with disability which holds next month at Nairobi, Kenya.

NOW MUZIK COMMENDS NCC

NOW MUZIK COMMENDS NCC

The management of Now Muzik on behalf of our esteemed clients (2face Idibia, Faze, Timi Dakolo, Crystals, D'Beat, Sunny Neji, J. Martins) and staff wishes to voice its support of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC)’s decisive action towards tackling the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN) issue.

When we made our decision to work with other stakeholders in 2009 to collectively sponsor ONE application for a Collective Management Organisation (CMO) license, MCSN rejected our overtures and put in its own application. Conventional wisdom suggested that in accordance with Nigerian law, any organization that failed to obtain the license would seek out ways to further its interest within the confines of legality.

MCSN's flagrant disregard of the law and the attendant confusion it has generated has considerably reduced the pace of development within the industry. We had indeed, come to the point where questions were been raised about the usefulness of the long-drawn approval process if indeed, no organization needed government approval to act in the capacity of a collecting society.

The NCC's move has restored our confidence in the ability and willingness of government to enforce compliance with the law in furtherance of the drive towards the creation of best possible environment for the development of a vibrant and world class creative industry.

We salute the courage of the DG, Mr. Afam Ezekude and the staff of the commission and pledge our unflinching support to them for the good work they are doing.

Signed:
