Timi
Dakolo, arguably Nigeria’s finest RnB vocalist, is preparing to premiere the
music video of his latest single - a song that has been tagged by critics as
the unofficial national anthem of Nigeria.
The
song titled Great Nation will premiere at the prestigious Future Awards
billed to hold in Port Harcourt this weekend.
According
to Timi Dakolo’s management, Now Muzik, the venue of The Future Awards was
chosen because of what the event stood for: a strong, practical commitment to
human and capital development, especially in Nigeria.
“Great
Nation is the latest in Timi’s strings of captivating classics. It is
an epic musical material and resonates with people and it has been adjudged to be Nigeria’s unofficial
national anthem. We could not think of any other way to unveil the video than
on the stage of a “nation-building” event like Future Awards” says Mr Efe
Omorogbe, CEO Now Muzik.
“Music
is not just for entertainment, it’s so much more,” reiterated Timi Dakolo who
hopes that Great Nation will rebuild and restore Nigeria as a
country in midst of the current political and economic situation.
Timi
Dakolo who has a philosophy of making good music to set outstanding standards,
is a strong believer in the unity of Nigeria. Emerging as the winner of the
West Africa Idol in 2007, Timi Dakolo has released socially relevant earthshaking
singles like, Let it Shine, Cry, and the wedding smash titled Leke Leke.
Great
Nation is his latest single off his Beautiful Noise album released in 2011.
